One Day with Sophie Loring

Sophie Loring is an American girl. She is 18 and she lives in a small town of around 8000 people, called Pleasantville, near New York City.
She’s spending 3 weeks in Italy, hosted by a girl who studies in Liceo Pico, Federica Zavatta.
Sophie studies in Pleasantville High School in New York and lives with her family in the same town, though next year she’s going to attend a College in New York and rent a dorm. Private colleges are very expensive in the US, they cost around 60.000 $. Sophie’s going to attend a private college, but through scholarships, she can pay reasonable taxes. There she will study mainly  arts.
She also showed us some photos of her school and in my opinion it's really fantastic. During the lesson we asked her some questions such as how we can improve our English and in complex it was a beautiful experience because we had the chance to hear about New York's schools and how is life there.
Sophie has studied Italian for 5 years and she loves Italy and Italian food like pizza and pasta.  In her school the students organize a Prom (that’s our end of school year’s party) every May or June. This year her school’s going to rent a big mansion for the occasion and the students are going to wear very smart clothes.
Sophie loves scientific subjects, painting and literature. She used to play soccer in a mixed team and she’s a keen reader.
We’d like to thank a lot Federica and Federica’s mum, Professor Emanuela Manfredini from Scuola Media Pascoli, who’ve given us the chance to meet Sophie and have this wonderful experience.
